Casual Freeroam & Co-op
Sometimes you don't want a heist or a race — you want two or three people to explore Leonida with, mess around at the beach, take photos, start trouble, or just drive. Freeroam sessions are the most underrated multiplayer format there is, and the easiest way to make the online mode feel alive.
What's confirmed
- GTA Online's freeroam — up to 30 players on modern platforms sharing an open map — was the connective tissue between every structured activity, with impromptu events layered on top over the years.
- GTA VI's map, the state of Leonida centered on Vice City, is the largest and most detailed world Rockstar has shown to date in its official trailers.
- No multiplayer freeroam has been announced for GTA VI; at launch the game is single-player.
What to expect (informed speculation)
- Open-session freeroam is the foundation every Rockstar online mode is built on — expect it to anchor GTA VI Online whenever the mode arrives.
- If reported 32+ player session sizes are accurate, freeroam will be busier and more social than GTA Online's ever was.
What listings here will look like
- "Chill freeroam tonight — exploring the swamps, no PvP, mic optional."
- "Photo-mode crew: golden-hour convoy down the coast, all welcome."
- "Two friendly players seeking a third for general chaos."
